So this past week or so I managed to get in some BB with more random people. I’m glad I was able to go even with some 500 or so PSR kune/bang player. Fuck kune’s j.B, but whatever it was pretty fun. I drop dp inputs on stick like crazy still, but I can tell I’m getting more comfortable with it. I think. I played a ragna today. I have trouble with the Jin/Ragna matchup much more than I should, I feel like. I’m pretty sure I lost every game to that guy today. The actual matches were close for the most part, but I didn’t win any.
That being said, even after using like 600 yen consistently at the arcade maybe bi-daily, excluding weekends, I really enjoy the arcade scene. When you finish playing games, you can say thanks for the games or whatever in Japanese, and go on to do life things. I think it’s pretty nice because it’s also pretty streamlined with everyday life, in my situation at least.
I go to 3 hour Japanese lesson, go to arcade for an hour or so, go back home, and leave for part-time work at an umi no ie. Kind of just part of the routine I suppose.
Anyway, still looking forward to coming back home to play with the local scene again, though that still won’t be for a little while. Yup.
My friends know all about it and the things I don’t do. Anyway, I have like those two weeks worth of drawings piled up, and since I learned that tomorrow I have a day off from my part-time at an umi no ie of my mom’s cousin’s sister’s father-in-law (something like that . - .) I’m going to hopefully find the time to catch up in-between studying Japamanese.
Fucking Labrys, Yu, that one girl with the book, and MOTHERFUCKING MITSURU
Dude…fuck these characters.
So, I got to play P4A at a Taito Station close to where I’ll be doing Japanese lessons in Yokohama. It was pretty fun. I’m hype for when it comes to the states. Also the fact that using a pad isn’t even an option I have/can even think about, I’m sure I’ll have stick down in no time. Yup. No I won’t, but I’ll try.
Down to business. At first I thought I was in beginner mode, but I was unaware until after I played for a while that if you just mash A, you will do a non optimal easy combo, no inputs necessary. I don’t have a problem with it, but after practicing some Yosuke (who I was going to main, but that was scratched thanks to the greatness that is Akihiko and his cape) someone came on to the other cab, as you’d expect at an arcade durr. He picked Yu. I could not even tell if this guy was trolling near the end or not, because he mashed the A button so damn hard OR mashed DP in pressure/if there was any gap, no matter how unintentional. I lost and had to forfeit a couple more 100 yen coins until I won, at which point was because I could literally hold back at any moment I closed the distance on him, and he would dp like a madman. Also the fact that I guess I would cross myself up in the air trying to dodge a DP I see coming and then I’d get hit by it. After I won, he switched to Mitsuru. I’m like OK, I’ve seen some gameplay, she seems like she’s got some crazy fast pokes, I better keep my distance (also at this point, I was using Akihiko).
Holy. Mother. Fucking. Spoons. Vacuums. Walls. Paper. Tables. VCRs. HOOOOOOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT I can’t believe how amazingly fast Mitsuru’s A mash combo can go. Btw, it will do the combo even if it’s not a hit confirm, that’s why that doesn’t work. Unless you’re goddamn Mitsuru. Eventually I beat him, thank god you have to win 3 rounds.
Then after a little, a Labrys came on. Dude, Labrys is one big douche nugget. One that hits with the force of a thousand drunk fathers. Also fuck guardpoint over heads (A+B) that shit is dumb.
Ok so finally, I was getting tired of using my money, and the next person used that one girl with the book or whatever. How 2 get in on this character. Her jump B is pretty damn homosexual. I don’t think it’s an overhead though. She throws her book or something and it makes a short boomerang-like attack. Fuck.
Alright, so I don’t exactly get the hang of the game yet, so I proceed to complain about it now, but I’m sure there are obvious ways of going around it. Like knowing combos and ending those combos so I can have some damn oki.
I’ll have some sketches up tonight. I’ll make up for all the days I didn’t do it. Yuppp
So I’m in Japan right now, and I’ll be here until pretty much the end of summer. I’ll probably make somewhat frequent posts on stuff I’m doing. Unfortunately, I don’t have a camera, soooooo I can’t post pictures or anything.
I’m going to do a sketch-a-day thing while I’m here starting today. I’ll work on getting them up each night, because I don’t usually draw in the morning lol.
Actually it’s kind of more about the thing that I have that I haven’t exactly figured out how to set up. I realized earlier that I wanted to post sketches (like pencil sketches yo) and remembered that my printer/scanner hasn’t been hooked up. There isn’t really sufficient room so I’d have to go some roundabout way of having it close to my desk without it being in the way. It’s just kind of annoying that I can’t show a lot of stuff since typically what I draw in pencil vs digital ends up looking pretty different. Regardless, I got a couple bit sketchbooks for my birthday that I’m pretty eager to start filling, and overall I just want to post more on here lol.
Colleen read over the extremely brief letter again, folded it back into the envelope, and left the shop. She needed to tell Clairis.
Clairis’s house was located on the opposite side of town. The streets around the area were not as clean as the ones near the market district and Colleen’s house. The residential buildings were packed tightly together as they were built in a time where the city had run out of space and the population of the capital was reaching capacity.
Colleen walked the sloped, narrow street. The ground was uneven and she found it difficult to walk naturally. A very dry, musty smell sat in the stale air.
